5 CLEANING HACKS TO SAVE TIME & MONEY

DETOX YOUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL WITH FRUIT

1.  Garbage disposals can leave a very foul smell in your kitchen, but never pour bleach down your disposal. This can cause a dangerous chemical reaction if it comes in contact with other cleaners you may be using. Beach is also not good for your pipes and can release toxic fumes. The fumes can be very nasty, and it can take your breath away. Instead, cut a lime and orange into small-sized pieces or you can just run the rinds into the disposal, and it cost only a few bucks at your local market. You can also add a couple of drops each of lime and orange essential oils if you don’t want to use the fresh lime and orange. Wait at least 15-20 minutes before running water.

The rinds and the oils will help neutralize any odors, and they will leave your garbage disposal smelling fresh and clean with no lingering odors. So when you peel your next orange and lime, use the rinds for your garbage disposal cleansing. You can also use apple and lemon peels.

  • Fresh lime pieces or peels
  • Fresh orange pieces or peels
  • 2 drops each of lime and orange essential oils (optional)

Note: You can add ice to help sharpen the blades. Just run cold water as you add the ice to the garbage disposal.

GET YOUR STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES TO SHINE

2. Use club soda or vinegar and eucalyptus oil to remove water spots from your stainless-steel appliances. Fill an 8-oz. glass bottle with white distilled vinegar or club soda, add 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.
Shake well, spray on stainless steel, wipe with a microfiber cloth until completely dry. This will give a nice shine to your stainless steel. Shake bottle before each use.

You can also use olive oil on your appliances to make them shine. Use a small amount on a microfiber cloth to wipe down, then dry off with a clean cloth until completely dry.

NATURAL SOLUTION TO UNCLOG YOUR DRAINS

3. Use 1 part salt and 1 part baking soda and mix to together. Add to a container and pour this mixture into your clogged drain. Follow with 1 cup of warm white distilled vinegar, and last add boiling water to the drain. Run tap water for a few minutes.

CLEANING WITH WHITE DISTILLED VINEGAR AND DAWN DISH SOAP

4. There are several ways you can clean with white distilled vinegar and dawn dish soap, but I like using it in my shower and on the chrome fixtures. I like how it removes the soap residue and water deposits. Just spray on your shower walls, glass doors, and chrome fixtures. Let sit for about 30 minutes, scrub clean with a sponge and rinse (spray) with 1 part water and 1 part white distilled vinegar. dry with a microfiber cloth.

HOMEMADE TOILET BOMBS

5. Homemade toilet bombs will keep your toilets smelling fresh and clean!  All you need is 3 simple ingredients. In a large bowl, add 1 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup citric acid, and 1 tablespoon of dish soap, (any brand). Mix the baking soda and citric acid together and gradually add the dish soap. Mix together with a spoon or whisk and add to a silicone mold (ice cube tray). It’s normal for mixture to swell, just wipe away the excess from the top of the silicone tray and fill in remaining cubes. Let dry for 4-5 hours, add to an airtight glass container.
