HOW TO TACKLE DIRT, CLUTTER, & ORGANIZATION IN YOUR KITCHEN

We spend most of our time in the kitchen, it is the heart of the home. It is also a catch-all, from the kids doing their school work at the kitchen table, mom preparing the bills, cooking a meal, or sitting down for dinner. Whatever it may be, it is the one room that needs the most attention to detail and the clutter easily accumulates. This is one job that can be very challenging, but there’s nothing like a clean and tidy kitchen.

CLEANING TIPS TO TACKLE DIRT AND GRIME
Here are some tips on how to tackle dirt, grime, clutter, and organization that will make your job in the kitchen much easier. Start at the top and work your way down from the kitchen cupboards to cleaning the floors, this way the dirt is not settling on your already clean surfaces.
Wipe down kitchen cupboards from top to bottom with Rosemary Spray Cleaner recipe below. This will get rid of the dirt and grime from your kitchen cupboards and give them a nice shine. Disclaimer, always test on an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn’t cause damage to your cabinetry. This is an all-natural recipe, but it’s always good to be safe to test first before applying it to your surfaces.

Rosemary Spray Cleaner for Wood Cabinets:

This recipe is a natural way to clean the grime off your cabinetry and leaving them with a fresh shine.

  •   1/2 cup water
  •   8 drops rosemary essential oil
  •   1/2 cup white distilled vinegar
  •   1/2 tsp. Olive Oil                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Directions:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Combine ingredients into a 16 oz. spray bottle. Shake bottle well each time you apply and spray directly on the cabinetry. Wipe clean with a dry microfiber cloth.

Clean and organize countertops, this is a great recipe for an all-natural purpose cleaner and you can use this for several cleaning tasks around the house. It has a nice soothing aroma. Do not use on marble, granite, or quartz, it’s best to use water and a microfiber cloth on stone surfaces.

 Lavender All-Purpose Spray Cleaner:

  •   2 tbsp. of vinegar
  •   1 tsp. borax
  •   2 drops nontoxic dish soap
  •   10-15 drops lavender essential oils                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Directions: Fill a 16-oz. spray bottle 3⁄4 full with hot water, then add vinegar, borax, lavender essential oil & nontoxic liquid dish soap. Shake bottle well until the borax is dissolved. Now you are ready to tackle the dirt and grime from your kitchen counters. Use a microfiber cloth to clean.

DECLUTTER YOUR COUNTERTOPS AND CUPBOARDS

Find a place to store items so you can keep the clutter down. If you don’t use it, get rid of it! You can donate to goodwill, or if you have enough items to put together and sell them in a garage sale. Less is more! I use an iron coffee mug tree stand for storing my coffee cups on my countertop, this also works great if you lack cupboard space. I also use one area to store all of my Rae Dunn Pottery. The brown wood and metal double top shelf is great for organization, it holds my canisters at the top and extra bowls on the bottom shelf. You can find this at Hobby Lobby arts and crafts stores.

I have a small kitchen, and lack drawer space. I use three separate containers by Rae Dunn to store my silverware, this makes a nice decorative piece on my countertop for knives, forks, and spoons for easy access.
Declutter and organize your kitchen cupboards by removing all items, get rid of expired and unwanted items. Store canned foods and other items in cube basket bins. Just slide bins out for easy access. This will keep all of your items tidy and organized. There are many styles and colors to choose from that will best match your taste and decor.
ORGANIZE YOUR STORAGE SPACE
Get organized with over the cabinet grid storage basket that gives you the extra storage space for cleaning supplies, dish towels, kitchen sponges, and other accessories. They come in small, medium, and large to fit your storage needs.

We all know it’s a challenge trying to keep up with the day to day chores, with all the craziness going on in your everyday routine with jobs, a family, and all of the chaos around us. But, we know the work still needs to get done! If you do a little each day, start at the top and work your way down. Your kitchen cupboards, countertops, and floors should now be clean, decluttered, organized, and free from dirt and grime.

My mother always says, “Make sure your kitchen and bathrooms are clean,” so that’s how I try to live. Your website and posts are amazing. I now have to go throw away candles in my house. I had never considered the candles we burn and how terrible they can be for air quality.

Wow! I didn’t know you could use olive oil in cleaning. Question though, Doesn’t olive oil make the wood a little slippery?
